The Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T. web portal is a collaborative effort aimed at providing access to data and resources that can help cancer control planners, health educators, program staff, and researchers design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based cancer control programs. The Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T. is intended to help its audience achieve its shared goals:
- To reduce the expected number of new cases of cancer among Canadians
- To enhance the quality of life of those living with cancer
- To lessen the likelihood of Canadians dying from cancer
- To increase effectiveness and efficiency of the cancer control domain
About the Associates
Canadian Association of Provincial Cancer Agencies
is a national organization representing provincial and territorial agencies engaged in cancer control. CAPCA exists to support the reduction of the burden of cancer through effective leadership, collaboration, communication, and advocacy for cancer control.
Canadian Council of Cancer Registries is a joint effort between Statistics Canada (a federal agency) and the provincial and territorial cancer registries. The council supervises the operation of the national-level Canadian Cancer Registry dataset and provides guidelines and advice for provincial/territorial central registries.
Canadian Cancer Research Alliance
is an alliance of cancer research funding organizations and affiliated partners working together to enhance the overall state of cancer research funding in Canada through improved communication, cooperation, and coordination.
Canadian Cancer Society
is a national community-based organization of volunteers whose mission is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the quality of life of people living with cancer.
North American Association of Central Cancer Registries
is a professional organization that develops and promotes uniform data standards for cancer registration; provides education and training; certifies population-based registries; aggregates and publishes data from central cancer registries; and promotes the use of cancer surveillance data and systems for cancer control and epidemiologic research, public health programs, and patient care to reduce the burden of cancer in North America.
Public Health Agency of Canada
is a federal agency with the mission to promote and protect the health of Canadians through leadership, partnership, innovation, and action in public health. The agency works closely with provinces and territories to keep Canadians healthy and help reduce pressures on the health care system.
